Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry: Armenia demonstrates non-constructive position on the issue of exchange of prisoners of war and hostages
Armenia bears moral responsibility as well as international legal responsibility to cooperate in return of prisoners of war and missing persons, said Spokesman for Azerbaijan`s Foreign Ministry Hikmet Hajiyev, APA reports.

He said that the Azerbaijani and Armenian presidents reached an agreement on cooperation for conducting exchange of prisoners of war and missing persons at the meeting held in Paris at the initiative of President of France Francois Hollande. “This proposal was favorably received by Azerbaijan and it expressed willingness to cooperate in this field. Azerbaijan has more than 4,000 prisoners of war and missing persons. Armenia is responsible for their fate. From the point of humanity, Armenia should clarify the issue.

Unfortunately, Armenia demonstrates non-constructive position in this regard. The studies show that the Azerbaijanis were killed en masse and there are mass graves of them. DNA testing of them should be done. There are some families in Azerbaijan waiting for information about the fate of their relatives. Unfortunately, Armenian demonstrates destructive position on this issue”, he said.
