Turkey starts constructing new tunnel under Bosphorus strait
Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu has announced about the start of construction of a tunnel under the Bosphorus strait, TRT Haber TV channel reported on Feb.27.
Reportedly, this underwater tunnel will link the European and eastern parts of Turkey’s Istanbul city.

Davutoglu said that the new project is called the ‘Great Istanbul Tunnel’ which will be used both as a road and a railway tunnel.

The project’s cost is $3.5 billion.

The tunnel’s construction will be completed in 2020.

Previously, Marmaray railway tunnel was constructed in Turkey in 2013. It links the eastern and European parts of the country.
