Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan intend to boost bilateral trade
Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan exchanged views on the current level and the development of bilateral economic relations, Azerbaijani embassy in Uzbekistan told.
The discussions were held with Azerbaijan’s Minister of Economy and Industry Shahin Mustafayev during his short-term visit to Tashkent.

As part of this visit, Mustafayev met Uzbekistan’s Deputy Prime Minister, chairman of the board of Uzavtosanoat JSC Ulugbek Rozukulov, Economy Minister Galina Saidova and the Minister of Foreign Economic Relations, Investments and Trade Elyor Ganiev.

During the meeting, the sides focused on the measures on increasing the volume of bilateral trade.

The trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan stood at $50 million as of 2014, according to the embassy.

However, the two countries have potential to increase this figure. Uzbekistan has the opportunity to increase the volume of export of grain, cotton, fertilizers, cars, trucks, agricultural machinery and textile machinery to Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijan, for its part, can sell petroleum products to Uzbekistan and take part in the projects for production and exploration of hydrocarbons in this country.
