A. Hasanov noted that the modern media today has important duties concerning the ongoing globalization process around the world.
“Competition among media agencies is quite natural, but it must be on sound foundation. And we would like it being aimed at improving universally accepted values rather than discrediting them. Unfortunately, we’re facing the opposite. Developments in the world are being one-sidedly highlighted by even leading news agencies sometimes, and presented in accordance with political interests. In many cases, unverified, tendentious or ordered information make its way into media. This causes damage to bilateral international relations,” he stressed.
Ali Hasanov said, different information agencies and media outlets have their own policy.
“This has to be so. But objectivity, impartiality and authenticity are very essential principles in journalism. In this case only, we can arrive at a common understanding relying on sound thinking. It’s especially important today at a time humanity is suffering from threats such as political confrontations, terrorism, separatism, religious extremism, transnational crimes. If people get unbiased information, it allows them to correctly analyze the developments going on not only in their countries but throughout the whole world,” said Ali Hasanov.
