Russian foreign minister warns against politicised interpretations of Nemtsov murder
The minister stressed that the murder will be investigated in strict compliance with the Russian law
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has warned against politicised interpretations of the murder of prominent Russian opposition politician Boris Nemtsov.
The minister stressed that the murder will be investigated in strict compliance with the Russian law.
"It is even more indecent to use such tragedies as cowardly murder of Boris Nemtsov to try to substitute for investigators, proposing openly politicized, unsubstantiated and provocative interpretations," the minister stressed. "This filthy crime will be investigated in strictest compliance with law, and those guilty will not escape punishment," he added.
Boris Nemtsov was killed while walking along the Bolshoy Moskvoretsky Bridge in Moscow on Friday. Four bullets hit him in the back and he died on the spot.
He was a co-chair of the RPR-Parnas liberal democratic political party and a deputy of Yaroslavl regional legislature. Nemtsov held a number of Russian government positions in the 1990`s.
The march in memory of Nemtsov was attended by over 20,000 people. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the murder was a "provocation."
