Azerbaijani gymnast wins bronze at championship in Baku
Azerbaijani gymnast Marina Durunda won bronze medal at the Open Joint Azerbaijan Championships in Gymnastics Disciplines held in Baku.

Durunda scored 17.450 points in the performances with a hoop that brought her the bronze medal. Russian gymnast Yana Kudryavtseva took the first place with 18,866 points. Salome Pazhava from Georgia took the second place with 17,716 points.

In group competitions in acrobatics, after static exercises among women, the Azerbaijani team won the gold medals, while the German gymnasts won the silver medals.

The Open Joint Azerbaijan Championships in Gymnastics Disciplines is being held in Baku on March 4-6. This is the test championship on the eve of the First European Games. Coming from 22 countries, 133 gymnasts compete for medals in both the all-around and individual competitions.

Such well-known gymnasts, as two-time absolute world champion Yana Kudryavtseva (Russia, rhythmic gymnastics), Olympic silver medalist Filip Ude (Croatia), European champion Alexander Shatilov (Israel, both – sports gymnastics) and other athletes have arrived in the capital of Azerbaijan - Baku.

A special feature of these games is the same scheme as that of the First European Games. The Open Joint Azerbaijan Championships in Gymnastics Disciplines will set a precedent in the history of gymnastics and an excellent opportunity for acrobats and aerobics representatives to compete along with the rhythmic, artistic and trampoline gymnasts.

The European Games are the first games in the history of the European continent, to be held in Baku on June 12-28, 2015.
