 President Ilham Aliyev - UPDATED
President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has received a delegation led by head of the France-Azerbaijan Friendship Group at the National Assembly of the French Republic Pierre-Alain Raphan.
The head of state congratulated Pierre-Alain Raphan on his election to the French parliament. President Aliyev expressed satisfaction with the fact that Pierre-Alain Raphan heads the France-Azerbaijan Friendship Group.

He said that Pierre-Alain Raphan’s visit to Azerbaijan crates a good opportunity to get to know the country better.

The president noted that relations between Azerbaijan and France stand at a high level, and cooperation in the political, economic, energy and infrastructure spheres yields good results.

President Aliyev stressed the importance of many years of activity of French companies in Azerbaijan.

During the meeting the president also touched upon the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

He underlined France’s role in the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict as a co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group.

“However, the Armenian lobby spread lies in various countries about Azerbaijan and Nagorno-Karabakh, tries to mislead the international community and to impede a fair resolution of the conflict,” stressed Ilham Aliyev.

Speaking about the broad agenda of bilateral relations, the Azerbaijani president noted with confidence that these ties will further strengthen in the coming days.

In turn, Pierre-Alain Raphan said that he is honored to meet with President Ilham Aliyev.

“We all, including French President Emmanuel Macron, want relations with Azerbaijan to reach even higher level,” he noted.

Pierre Alain Rafan also stressed the importance of bringing realities about Azerbaijan to the French public. He said that France is committed to existing resolutions on the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

Moreover, the sides exchanged views on cooperation in space industry, construction, transport, water economy, subway, railway, military-technical and other spheres.
