President Aliyev arrives in Ganja city, attends openings - UPDATED
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has today arrived in the country’s Ganja city.
As part of Ganja visit, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has attended the opening of the 110/35/10 kV “Yeni Ganja” substation.

Chairman of Azerishig Open Joint Stock Company Baba Rzayev informed the head of state about the work done here.


The substation occupies a total area of 11,000 square meters.President Ilham Aliyev launched the substation.

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has today attended the opening of Mirza Shafi Vazeh Museum in Ganja.

The head of state cut the ribbon symbolizing the opening of the museum, which was built with the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.


The President was informed about the works carried out here. The construction of the museum started in March 2016, and ended in November 2017. The two-storey building of the museum has exhibition and conference halls and administrative rooms.

A park named after Mirza Shafi Vazeh, which covers an area of two hectares, was built around the museum. A statue of the poet was erected in the park.

On November 10, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev attended the opening of a newly-built 514-bed dormitory complex for students of Azerbaijan State Agrarian University in Ganja.

The head of state cut the ribbon symbolizing the opening of the dormitory.

Minister of Agriculture Heydar Asadov informed President Ilham Aliyev that 4,834 students are currently studying for bachelor's degree at the university.



A 520-bed student dormitory of the university was inaugurated in 2016 with the participation of President Ilham Aliyev. The complex, which occupies a total area of 13,640 square metres, consists of five blocks. All 257 rooms in the complex are equipped with the necessary furniture. There are a registration office, 120-seat auditorium, fitness club, cafe, atelier, stores, laundry, library, medical room, dental office and room for meeting with parents.



Azerbaijan Agricultural Institute was established in 1929 in Baku, and moved to Ganja in 1931.

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has viewed conditions created at the secondary school No 1 named after Ismat Gayibov in the city of Ganja after major overhaul.

The head of state was informed of the renovation work carried out at the school.The 2,140-seat school occupies a total area of 4.8 hectares.

The 980-seat first block of the school was constructed in 1934, while the 1,160-seat second block was built in 1974. The renovation work at the school started in May 2015 and was fully completed this November.

Both blocks of the four-storey building feature 80 classrooms, physics, chemistry, biology laboratories, two computer rooms, library, 200-seat conference hall, gym and 100-seat canteen.

The school enrolls 1,157 pupils who are served by 109 teachers.

The school was supplied with state-of-the-art equipment as well as video surveillance and fire alarm systems. New internet and telephone lines were built in the building. An outdoor sports ground was built in the area, extensive landscaping work was done in the school yard, and green areas were created here.

On November 10, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev attended the inauguration of “Grand Qafqaz” trade complex in Ganja.

Head of Ganja City Executive Authority Elmar Valiyev informed President Ilham Aliyev about “Grand Qafqaz” trade complex.

The construction of the complex started in May, 2014, and ended in October, 2017. The facility covers a total area of 20 hectares. Five “Green Market” wholesale centers were built in the complex. 3,500 trade facilities were built here. There is a parking lot, which occupies an area of 1.3 hectares. The trade complex will create 5,000 jobs.

President Ilham Aliyev viewed fruit and vegetables sale section of the complex.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev attended the opening of a new building of the Ganja State Philharmonic on Nov. 10.

The head of state cut the ribbon symbolizing the opening of the building. President Aliyev then met with representatives of the city’s public.The president made a speech at the meeting.

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has viewed conditions created at Ganja Mall.

The head of state was informed that the construction of the shopping mall started in August 2014 and ended this October. The eight-storey mall occupies a total area of 26,293 square metres. It has a 411-car underground parking lot. Ganja Mall features the latest fashion brands on electronic products, home appliances and home décor, furniture, perfumery, clothing, accessories, shoes and sports products. The shopping mall houses a pharmacy, book store, restaurants and Cinema Plus movie theater.

The shopping mall will create 800 jobs.

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has viewed the construction of “Majestic Palace” hotel as part of his visit to Ganja.

The head of state was informed of the construction work.

The construction of the hotel started in April 2015, and has now entered its final stage. The seven-storey hotel will feature a total of 52 rooms, including one king`s suit, eight suites, 10 deluxe and 33 standard rooms. The hotel will also house a 120-seat restaurant and a 20-seat conference hall. The hotel has a 50-car parking lot.

Once put into service, the hotel will create 50 jobs.

President Ilham Aliyev was also informed of landscaping and construction work in the city.

The head of state started his visit by laying flowers at a monument to national leader Heydar Aliyev in the city centre.

Head of Ganja city Executive Authority Elmar Valiyev informed President Aliyev about the construction and landscaping work around the monument.
