“We are tied by shared history, culture and religion. Over the past four years, the presidents of Azerbaijan and Iran have met for 10 times. These reciprocal visits have given a great impetus to the development of the bilateral relations and opened wide opportunities for cooperation. Further expansion of cooperation in the field of tourism between our countries is also one of significant steps that needs to be taken,” said the Iranian vice-president.
Ambassador Huseynov also praised the Azerbaijani-Iranian relations, saying that they have been developing rapidly over the past four years. “The mutual visits of state and government representatives have been intensified. Various business forums and exhibitions are co-organized by our countries. The joint economic projects implemented between Azerbaijan and Iran have already yielded tangible results. We also enjoy a good level of cooperation between the two countries. These relations provide a great impulse to the development of the tourism industry, as well as bring our nations closer to each other,” he added.
Touching upon the bilateral cultural cooperation, Iranian Vice-President Mounesan said that Days of Azerbaijani Culture were held in Iran in July 2017. “Next year, Days of Iranian Culture are expected to be held in Baku.”
Ambassador Huseynov drew the Iranian vice-president’s attention to the decision made at the 6th Conference of Culture Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation member states to declare Nakhchivan as the "Capital of Islamic Culture" for 2018.
