Azerbaijani Parliament adopted migration code at new reading
Milli Majlis (Parliament) of Azerbaijan adopted a Migration Code at the third reading at an extraordinary session on Thursday.

The updated draft was presented by the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Legal Policy and State Building Ali Huseynli.

The chairman of the Committee commented on the proposed changes to the project.

While discussing the bill, some parliamentarians proposed to allow taking out a child from the coutnry with one parent`s permission. This provision was substantiated by the fact that, in some cases, when a parent breaks ties with his family, the other parent loses the right to take the child out of the country.

Expressing his attitude to this, Ali Huseynli noted that one should not be guided by emotions in this matter.
According to Huseynli, such authorization can create the conditions for different kind of abuses, including speculation by children.

The final version of the bill reflects issues such as learning of the Azerbaijani language by foreigners permanently residing in Azerbaijan, granting citizenship to foreigners who invested tangible assets in the economy of the country, rejection to grant citizenship to compatriots living outside the country, the registration of foreigners arriving in Azerbaijan in three days, as well as the issue of registration facilitation, Huseynli said.

Presenting the bill, the chairman of the committee said that the law does not include such issues as the quota for migrant workers and cross-border migration.
