Head of Azerbaijani PA attends a meeting of secretaries of CIS security councils
Head of Azerbaijan’s Presidential Administration Ramiz Mehdiyev attended the fifth meeting of secretaries of the security councils of the CIS member states in Moscow on Nov. 22.
The meeting focused on the issues of preventing the spread of radical religious movements in the CIS, as well as the situation in the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and measures to ensure security in Central Asian states. In addition, reports on some aspects of the international fight against terrorism were heard.

Mehdiyev delivered a lecture at the event, talking about Azerbaijan’s positive experience in tackling religious radicalism, extremism and terrorism, as well as improvement of the relevant legislation, and the efficient work of the country’s law enforcement agencies and special services.

Mehdiyev held bilateral meetings with Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev and Deputy Secretary Rashid Nurgaliyev, as well as with State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus Stanislav Zas. The meetings focused on the development of cooperation through security councils, as well as a Cooperation Plan for 2018-2019 was signed with the Office of the Security Council of the Russian Federation.
