The first ever European games are an important step in strengthening the international relations of Azerbaijan in the field of sports. This was stated by Vice-President of the Olympic Committee of Russia Igor Levitin, who visited the Republic earlier this week.
Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Financial Markets Dmitry Savelyev also shared his impressions of his visit to Baku.
"Judging by the scale and quality of preparation and construction, this sporting event promises to be spectacular.
It is always difficult to be first, but Azerbaijan has outstanding experience and tradition, it has all the necessary infrastructure.
In many respects it is the legacy of Heydar Aliyev`s presidency, his national policy, the nation`s health and sports was one of his most important priorities.
Ilham Aliyev continues this line consistently and successfully. The fact that the capital of Baku was selected for hosting the first European game is yet another proof that Azerbaijan has a significant and growing authority on the world stage," he said.
