The Azerbaijani Armed Forces Relief Fund was created upon the Azerbaijani presidential decree on August 17, 2002.
The assets are formed through the voluntary contributions of individuals and legal entities operating in Azerbaijan and other revenues not prohibited by law.

As of Dec. 1, 2017, over 87 million manats were accumulated on AZN account, over $212,873 – on the dollar account, 9,236 euros – on the euro account and 5,000 Russian rubles – on the ruble account of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces Relief Fund, the Azerbaijani defense ministry said Dec. 1.
