Azerbaijan`s parliamentary delegation attends TurkPA Council's meeting in Bishkek
An Azerbaijani parliamentary delegation led by Speaker Ogtay Asadov has attended a meeting of the Council of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic Speaking countries (TurkPA) in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.
In his opening remarks, deputy chairperson of the Kazakh Parliament Gulmira Isinbayeva highlighted the work done to further deepen cooperation between the member states, as well as development prospects of TurkPA.

Addressing the event, chairman of the Jogorku Kenesh, Kyrgyz Parliament, Dastanbek Djumabekov pointed out the activities of Kyrgyzstan within the TurkPA.

Speaker of the Milli Majlis Ogtay Asadov provided an insight into a number of events taking place in 2016-2017 which affected the political life of TurkPA member states, including an attempted coup d’etat last July in Turkey.

The speaker of the Milli Majlis noted that measures taken to promote TurkPA on the international scene have yielded its results.

"TurkPA gained an observer status in a number of influential organizations, including in the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), the Parliamentary Union of Organization of the Islamic Conference (OICPU), Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization (PA BSEC), Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA). We also reached agreement on TurkPA`s participation as a special guest in the sessions of OSCE Parliamentary Assembly," speaker Asadov said.
