Caucasian Muslims Office issues statement on al-Quds
The Caucasian Muslims Office (CMO) has released a statement on the issue of al-Quds (Jerusalem).
The statement reads as follows:

“Every believer unsurprisingly is sensitive about what is happening around al-Quds, which is our first qiblah and is revered by the followers of Abrahamic religions.

Under the Will of the Almighty Creator, it is essential that al-Quds be protected as a sacred place of peace and reconciliation for Muslims and the People of the Book. Abuse of religious feelings for political purposes is inadmissible. Declared sacred by the One Creator and having sites sacred for both Muslims and non-Muslims, al-Quds should a center for peace and dialogue for mankind. Hence, any decision that overlooks this sacredness and uniqueness cannot be deemed fair.

We are concerned by what is happening in our world. In a period of unremitting intolerance, national and religious confrontations, xenophobia, islamophobia, terror, and extremism, it is a necessity to take steps to protect human life, which is a sacred value, and to establish peace and stability. When making political decisions which will cost the lives of millions of people, it is essential to take into account that these decisions can derive extremely dangerous complications, possible confrontation and hostility.

Violations of international law and non-compliance with the international community’s position are a dangerous trend. We unequivocally state that the decision taken on al-Quds is unacceptable. It is inadmissible to take a decision on al-Quds for political purposes and intentions. This can lead to the violation of the rights not only of Muslims, but also non-Muslims.

The Caucasian Muslims Office expresses its strong protest over this decision that hinders restoration of peace and escalates tension in Middle East. Expressing the will of millions of believers, we insist on the implementation of the UN Security Council resolution (1967) on al-Quds.”

Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump announced his decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital as well as plans to move the U.S. embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to the contested city.
