It is important to train young scientists devoted to our national traditions - Ilham Aliyev
The first congress of Azerbaijan Young Scientists started its work at the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), AzVision.az reports.
Prior to the meeting, the event participants visited the Alley of Honors and laid a wreath at the tomb of national leader, founder and architect of modern Azerbaijani state Heydar Aliyev. They also put flowers at the grave of prominent ophthalmologist, academician Zarifa Aliyeva.

The congress featured an exhibition on recent achievements of the young Azerbaijani scientists.

Head of the Presidential Administration, academician Ramiz Mehdiyev read a congratulatory letter of President Ilham Aliyev to participants of the congress, AzVision.az reports.

President Aliyev said in his message that the dynamic growth is the result of the scientific potential of the Azerbaijani people.

“It is important to train young scientists who will be devoted to our national traditions. Important steps are being taken in Azerbaijan to attract young people to science and we believe that our young scientists will be decently representing us in gaining our country worldwide recognition. I’m convinced that the Congress will adopt a comprehensive program on science development,” said the president.

In his remarks, ANAS president Akif Alizade hailed the importance of the congress, highlighting the tasks facing the contemporary Azerbaijani science. He also emphasized young scientists' contribution to developing various fields of science and building knowledge economy.

The first Congress of Young Scientists kicked off in Baku on Dec. 15. The Congress was organized jointly by the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, the Ministry of Education, and the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
