Azerbaijan’s population to reach 10 million by 2019 - minister
Azerbaijan’s population will reach 10 million people by 2019, the country’s Minister of Labor and Social Protection of Population Salim Muslumov said at a conference “Labor Market: Reforms, Challenges and Prospects” in Baku Dec. 20.
The minister said that as of early 2017, the population of Azerbaijan was 9.8 million people, and as of Nov. 1 this year it increased to 9.883 million people.

Muslumov noted that the median age of the Azerbaijani population is 32.3 years.

“Citizens under the age of 14 accounted for 22.6 percent of the country’s population, citizens aged 14-29 years old accounted for 25 percent of the country’s population, and citizens aged 30-64 years old accounted for 46.1 percent of the country’s population,” Muslumov added. “The share of citizens aged 65 years and older was 6.3 percent.”
