The conference is organized by the Caucasus Muslims Office and the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations of Azerbaijan, and is dedicated to the results of the Year of Islamic Solidarity, proclaimed by a decree of President Aliyev.
The international conference is attended by well-known state, religious and scientific figures from about 40 countries, heads and representatives of eight international organizations, special representatives of heads of various states, leaders of religious confessions, government, public and parliamentary members, representatives of the diplomatic corps.
The conference started with the recitation of ayahs from Holy Quran.
President Aliyev has delivered speech at the event.
Later, letters of appeal by the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Hassan Rouhani, President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople, Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Kirill II and Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia were read to the participants of the conference.
ISESCO Director General Abdulaziz bin Othman Altwaijri, making speech on behalf of the world Muslim population underlined the increasing importance of Azerbaijan in strengthening of intercultural and interreligious dialogue and Islamic cooperation.
Chairman of the Caucasian Muslims Office and co-chair of CIS Interreligious Council Sheikhulislam Allahshukur Pashazade also made speech at the conference. Allahshukur Pashazade stressed that the decleration of 2017 as "Year of Multiculturalism" and "Year of Islamic Solidarity" is Azerbaijan’s special and valuable contribution to the processes taking place in the world. He informed the conference participants about the international events organized throughout the world by the Caucasus Muslims Office and the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations of Azerbaijan.
