“The Conference is establishing itself as an important platform for the exchange of ideas on developments in the region; it fosters constructive discussion between business and policy makers from the UK and the Caspian. This year’s Conference will continue in the tradition of the previous two, drawing in high caliber speakers across sectors. We are thankful to the EBRD in playing host to the 2015 Conference”.
Riccardo Puliti, EBRD Managing Director for Energy and Natural Resources, said: “The Caspian region is growing and changing at a rapid pace, cementing its position between Europe and Asia on the ’New Silk Road’. We look forward to welcoming a broad range of high-level speakers, as well as many interested international delegates, for what is sure to be a day of stimulating and enlightening discussion.”
Gary Campkin, Director International Strategy at TheCityUK, added “The Caspian Corridor has enormous potential for the UK’s financial and related professional services industry and we are very pleased to be supporting this conference which brings together senior practitioners, policy makers and other key stakeholders. The industry plays a central role in creating jobs and driving economic growth and the opportunities presented in the emerging markets of the Caspian region make it a prime destination for investment and development as well as a growing source of inward investment to the UK.”
The 2015 event builds on the success of previous conferences, held at Lancaster House in 2012 and the London Stock Exchange in 2014.
This year’s Conference will focus on Building A Safer Diversified Energy and Economic Corridor From Europe To Asia, exploring themes such as the progress of transportation infrastructure connecting up Europe and Asia, the financing of development, regional IT and innovation hubs, and the impacts of the changing global energy landscape.
Speakers will include the Rt Hon Lord Mayor of London Alan Yarrow, Charles Hendry MP, the Prime Minister’s Trade Envoy to Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan, Natig Aliyev, Minister of Energy of Azerbaijan, Lord Browne, Executive Chairman of L1 Energy, Enzo Quattrociocche, Secretary General at the EBRD, among business and government notables.
