Former US ambassador to Ukraine rules out large scale military operations in Nagorno-Karabakh in 2018
No large scale military operations will be carried out in Nagorno Karabakh conflict zone in 2018, the former US ambassador to Ukraine John Herbst told in his interview to Voice of America, AzVision.az reports.
Former diplomat rules out launching military operation on the contact line of troops between Armenia and Azerbaijan and expects maintenance of current status-quo: "Neither Armenia, nor Azerbaijan benefits from the conflict. Escalation of tension will not bear fruit the conflicted states".

Besides, Herbst criticized Russia for selling weapons both to Azerbaijan and Armenia: "It is completely unacceptable. It allows Kremlin to preserve its influence on two countries".

"I do not accept any diplomatic progress on Nagorno-Karabakh conflict settlement in 2018. Maintaining status-quo does not offer any novelty", he said.
