US, UK embassies in Azerbaijan say possible delays in visa issuance
UK’s Embassy in Baku said March 16 on its Facebook page that due to the Novruz holidays marked in Azerbaijan on March 20-27, the visa applicants may experience some delay in the courier service between Baku and Istanbul.

The submission of documents for a UK visa, as well as the issuance of UK visas in Baku is carried out through a visa center. The documents submitted for consideration are sent to UK’s Embassy in Istanbul, Turkey, where a decision is made regarding the issuance of visas.

“Any customer paying for a priority visa service during this period will still have their application prioritised, as usual, upon receipt in Istanbul,” the embassy said. “However we are unable to guarantee the processing times for these applications.”

The US Embassy in Baku also warned on its Facebook page about a possible delay in visa issuance.

“US embassies and consulates are currently experiencing technical difficulties due to system maintenance that may result in delays in US passport and visa processing and receiving and sending e-mail,” the embassy said.

The embassy said the US citizens may also experience delays in responses to their email inquiries.

“US citizens requiring emergency assistance should contact their embassy or consulate by telephone,” read the message. “Additionally, applicants who have interviews for student and exchange visitor (F/M/J) visas scheduled for this week should bring proof of payment of the SEVIS fee."
