About 12 kg of drugs seized in Azerbaijan
  Employees of agencies of Azerbaijan’s Interior Ministry seized about 12 kilograms of various narcotic drugs, including more than two kilograms of heroin, more than 8.5 kilograms of opium and about 1.3 kilograms of marijuana during the operational and search activities, the press service of the Interior Ministry said in a statement Jan. 26.

Over 1.5 kilograms of heroin were seized from previously convicted Baku resident Aghakarim Akhundov. Also, more than eight kilograms of opium were seized in the car of Nurid Ahmadov, a resident of the Jalilabad district. Opium belonged to previously convicted Zaur Mammadov.

In addition, 321 grams of heroin were seized from Yadigar Alizade, a resident of the Zardabi village of the Guba district, 453 grams of heroin were seized from previously convicted Baku resident Vurgun Abdulov, and up to 0.5 kilograms of marijuana were seized from Elguj Agamamadov, a resident of the Aliabad village of the Zagatala district.

The detainees together with the seized material evidence were handed over to the investigation.

Criminal cases have been launched into the cases.
