Azerbaijan's gross domestic product increased by more than 10 times over the past 10 years, said Hasanova.
“In 2015, 192 world leaders, as well as Azerbaijani President adopted Agenda for Sustainable Development, including the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at UN headquarter in New York. Azerbaijan positioned as the top-ranking country in UN’s Millennium Development Goals in terms of eradicating poverty under the Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s economic development policy. Half of the Azerbaijani population was estimated to be living in poverty when we joined this initiative. We achieved to reduce the poverty rate about 10 times until 2015. The percentage of Azerbaijanis living in poverty fell to 4, 9%. Currently, Azerbaijan is among the 29 countries with the lowest poverty rates”, Hasanova added.
