"As a transit country, Georgia perceives its responsibility and will fulfill its task till the end"
“Groundbreaking ceremony of the TANAP is very important for us. Leaders of all three countries passed decision a few years ago. We are here today because of steps we took on that day”, said the Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili in the groundbreaking ceremony of TANAP in Kars, Turkey. He noted that as a transit country, Georgia perceives its responsibility and will fulfill its task till the end: “This is important not just for Georgia, but also for our neighbors. Georgia is an important gate between Europe and Asia. Georgia has advantage due to being transit country”.

Margvelashvili noted that it’s impossible to think about Georgia’s success without support of Turkey and Azerbaijan: “We are taking important steps for future welfare of our countries. Other countries sometimes use the energy issue as a threat. We’ll do what we must in this regard. The project will has positive impact on tourism and trade. There can be problems, but this line will be launched. Import of goods from China and Asia is increasing and there is need a greater logistics infrastructure for it. Therefore, cooperation of three countries is important. We must increase our partnerships. We must use our energy potential till the end”.
