Azerbaijan starts execution of president
Azerbaijan has started the execution of the pardon order signed by President Ilham Aliyev on March 18.

The order applies to 101 persons overall.

Under the order, 90 convicts are released from the unserved part of their prison sentence; 4 persons are released from community work; 7 others have their fine cancelled.

Executive director of the Elections Monitoring and Democracy Studies Center (EMDS), Bashir Suleymanli, theologian Anar Gasimli, NIDA member Orkhan Eyyubzade and Ramil Valiyev who was detained during the anti-hijab ban protest outside the Education Ministry in 2012 are among the pardoned.
