Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry calls on French colleagues not to succumb to misinformation and propaganda of the Armenian lobby circles in Armenia and France, spokesman of Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, Hikmat Hajiyev told Feb. 21.

"The OSCE Minsk Group co-chair countries including France, which has been dealing with the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict for more than 25 years, fully comprehend that the reason behind the escalation in the region is the continuation of the Armenian military occupation of Azerbaijani territories.

Over a million Azerbaijanis became victims of ethnic cleansing in Armenia and in the occupied territories. Consequently, in the early 1990s Azerbaijan suffered the greatest humanitarian catastrophe in Europe after World War II.

Armenia has not yet implemented four UN Security Council resolutions on withdrawal of its armed forces from the Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding districts. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s statement on the return of Azerbaijani IDPs and refugees to their historical lands, which has also highlighted in the international documents and the UNSC resolutions, is one of the humanitarian principles for the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

France, a co-chair country of the OSCE MG and a permanent member of the UNSC should worry about Armenia’s illegal activities in order to achieve an annexation of Azerbaijan's territories, as well as attempts to change demographic character of the occupied territories and destruction of cultural and religious heritage.

France should take measures regarding the illegal cooperation between French provinces and the so-called regime, entry representatives of that so-called regime to the territories of France violating Schengen visa rules and their propaganda,” Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry spokesman Hikmet Hajiyev said.
