Azerbaijan puts foreigner on Interpol wanted list for illegally visiting its occupied lands
Prosecutor General’s Office of Azerbaijan has declared Kaspar Karampetian, head of the European Armenian Federation for Justice and Democracy operating in Belgium, wanted by Interpol, the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office said in a statement on Feb. 21.

He was declared wanted as part of the criminal case, the investigation of which is being carried out in the Investigation Department for Grave Crimes of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Azerbaijan.

Karampetian as part of an organized group in 2014-2018 repeatedly deliberately crossed the state border of Azerbaijan through Armenia and visited Khankendi and other settlements where he voiced appeals against the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan with the aim of promoting the so-called Nagorno-Karabakh Republic at the international level, according to the statement.

On Feb. 20, 2018, Karampetian was involved, as an accused person, in the criminal case under articles 281.2 (public appeals against the state, committed repeatedly) and 318.2 (illegal crossing of the state border of Azerbaijan by an organized group) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.

By a court decision, a preventive measure in the form of arrest was chosen in his respect.
