FM: Countries supporting Azerbaijan in OIC tend to abstain in other organizations

A conference of the foreign ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member states will be held in May 2018, Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov announced on Monday.

“We will discuss confirming the OIC as the main organization in the Islamic world. We are convinced that Islamophobia is artificially created,” Mammadyarov told a joint press conference with his Moroccan counterpart Nasser Bourita in Baku, AzVision.az reports.

Mammadyarov said the OIC should base its activities on solidarity and the carrying out of resolutions.

"For instance, countries that vote for a document in the OIC in favor of Azerbaijan tend to abstain in other organizations about the same issue. We must demonstrate solidarity,” he added.
