Aflatun Amashov re-elected chairman of Azerbaijani Press Council

Aflatun Amashov has been re-elected as chairman of Azerbaijan’s Press Council.

The decision was made at the 7th Congress of Azerbaijani Journalists in Baku on March 10, AzVision.az reports.

New members of the Board of the Press Council were also elected during the congress. The new Board consists of 11 journalists (Aflatun Amashov, Vugar Rahimzade, Umud Rahimoglu, Rashad Majid, Aydin Guliyev, Akif Ashirli, Rauf Arifoglu, Elchin Mirzabeyli, Aynur Jamalgizi, Bakhtiyar Sadigov, Bahaddin Haziyev), 7 representatives of the public (Vugar Safarli, Mushfig Alasgarli, Agil Abbas, Javanshir Feyziyev, Hikmat Babaoglu, Ilham Ismayilov, Yadigar Mammadli) and 5 representatives of online information resources (Vusala Mahirgizi, Azer Hasrat, Niyaz Niftiyev, Rahman Hajiyev, Anar Imanov).     

In addition, an amendment was made the Charter of the Press Council during the congress. According to the amendment, the number of seats in the Board of the Press Council was increased from 17 to 23.
