The command staff of the Interior Troops and a group of military servicemen visited national leader Heydar Aliyev’s grave in the Alley of Honor on this remarkable day, the Internal Ministry told Defence.az. The servicemen commemorated the memory of ophthalmologist-scientist, academician Zarifa Aliyeva, laid flowers on her grave and also laid wreath in front of the Eternal Torch Monument erected in memory of the people killed for Azerbaijan's freedom and sovereignty. The staff also visited the monument erected in memory of martyred military servicemen of the Interior Troops.  Later, a solemn ceremony dedicated to the anniversary of the establishment of the body was held at the Headquarters of the Internal Troops. Minister of Internal Affairs, Colonel General Ramil Usubov and Assistant to the President for work with law enforcement bodies and military issues – Department Head Fuad Alasgarov attended the ceremony.  Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Lieutenant-General Shahin Mammadov made a broad speech on establishment, the path of development and current state of the body. He said necessary measures have been taken to improve the management in the Troops during the ceasefire, raise the combat and professional readiness strengthen the military discipline and create normative-legal and material-technical base.

In his speech, Assistant to the President for work with law enforcement bodies and military issues – Department Head Fuad Alasgarov stressed that the army building traditions founded by national leader Heydar Aliyev are successfully continued and due to the high attention, care and strict control, the Interior Troops have become a highly professional mobile body which manages to fulfill all the tasks it was given, also create an efficient base to take organizational-practical steps for sustainable development of the country’s economy.

Addressing the event, Minister of Internal Affairs, Colonel General Ramil Usubov stressed that the Interior Troops are able to fulfill any combat duty with high quality thanks to the high attention and care of the country’s president. The minister said that the decisions adopted for development of the Interior Troops are welcomed with deep gratitude and great enthusiasm. The president’s participation in various events of the Interior troops, as well as his appreciation of the work of Troops, valuable ideas and recommendations inspire the staff to great success being considered an activity program. Thanks to the exceptional support of the state, consistent measures have been taken to improve the physical and technical base of the Interior Troops, and military units have been equipped with the latest technology, special equipment and communication systems.

It has also been mentioned that since 1997 the Interior Troops have been cooperating closely with Turkey’s Gendarmerie General Command. Minister Usubov expressed gratitude to the leadership and military of the friendly and fraternal state’s Gendarmerie General Command for their undeniable role in the successes achieved. At the end of his speech, Colonel General Ramil Usubov also expressed gratitude to the president who always highly appreciates the activities of the internal affairs bodies and awards a group of military on the eve of professional holiday and signs relevant orders to improve the social security of personnel. The minister expressed confidence that the military will continue to maintain the stability, independence and security, spare no effort and skills in protecting the legitimate interests of citizens against unlawful acts, and will constantly increase their combat readiness. After the orders on awarding a group of servicemen on the occasion of 26th anniversary of the establishment of the Interior Troops, as well as the orders of the Minister and Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs were read out, a group of military distinguished in service were presented state awards.
