"Azerbaijan takes leading position among world countries in terms of low poverty rate and unemployment"

Despite the occupation of Azerbaijani Karabakh region by the Armenian Armed Forces, Azerbaijan is developing successfully, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said at the opening of the VI Global Baku Forum titled "Bridging Gaps to Create Inclusive Societies".

He said, Azerbaijan takes leading position among the world countries in terms of low poverty rate and unemployment: "More than 3,000 schools have been built and 600 hospitals have been renovated."

President Aliyev said that initially particular attention was paid to economic and political independence, stressing that a country that is not economically independent cannot be politically independent.

“The policy we’re pursuing relies on the interests of our people. Azerbaijan’s economy has had a 3.5-fold growth over the last 10 years, which is a remarkable achievement. According to the competitiveness report of the Davos Economic Forum, Azerbaijan takes the 35th place. According to the report of the Davos Economic Forum, Azerbaijan ranks 3rd worldwide in terms of inclusive growth,” he added.

President Aliyev also notes, Azerbaijan also stands out in terms of per capita investments.

Over the past 10 years, $230 billion has been invested in Azerbaijan, the head of state noted.
