FM: Karabakh talks to be intensified after elections in Azerbaijan, Armenia

An agreement was reached to intensify negotiations on the settlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict after the elections in both countries, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov said on Friday, AzVision.az reports.

The agreement was reached during the last visit of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs to the region, Mammadyarov noted.

“At the last meeting of the presidents and foreign ministers, the co-chairs put forward creative ideas for moving the issue from a dead end. After the formation of new governments in both countries, we will intensify the negotiation process,” he added.

Mammadyarov also referred to a possible meeting between the Azerbaijani and Armenian foreign ministers after the elections.

“There was an opinion on holding a ministerial meeting after the elections. I hope that the meeting will take place, but when, it is too early to say,” Azerbaijan’s top diplomat noted.
