PM: Turkey must to move to presidential form of government
Turkey must to move to a presidential form of government, Prime Minister of Turkey, Ahmet Davutoglu said, Turkish newspaper Milliyet reported.
According to Davutoglu, the parliamentary system is not in the interests of Turkey.

Earlier, Turkish authorities have repeatedly stated that the country should move to a presidential system.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who was then prime minister, said on the eve of the presidential election in August 2014 that Turkey must pass to the presidential form of government.

“This can benefit the country’s further development,” he said.

President Erdogan said that the issue will be raised after the presidential election.

At present, the legislative power in Turkey belongs to the unicameral parliament - the Grand National Assembly.
