Azerbaijan launches criminal case over athlete
A criminal case has been launched over the death of an Azerbaijani athlete who died in the ring.
According to a joint statement issued by the Baku City Main Police Office and the City Prosecutor’s Office, on March 27 in the Hovsan village, Sumgayit city resident Samadov Parviz Natiq oglu (1994) knocked down his opponent, Guba district resident Zeynalov Ramin Aliabbas oglu (1987), using a technique against him during a sports contest among amateurs. As a result, Z. Ramin died in the ring. The Surakhani District Prosecutor’s Office has initiated a criminal case over the death fact under the Criminal Code’s article 124 (murder on imprudence).

Necessary investigative actions on the case have been taken, and a forensic team created in order to find out causes of the death.

Investigative measures are still continuing.
