Daily Times: Transparent system to ensure fair voting in Azerbaijani presidential election

Pakistan’s Daily Times newspaper has devoted an article to the presidential election in Azerbaijan, to be held on April 11, 2018.

According to Daily Times, eight candidates including the country’s incumbent President Ilham Aliyev will compete for the presidential post. Special attention is paid to transparency in the presidential election.

According to the article, a big number of webcams have been installed in polling stations across the country to ensure transparent, free and fair election. About 10 years ago, when Azerbaijan started using webcams to monitor electoral process in the country, around 500 webcams were used. To date, the number of webcams has increased up to 1,000.

Reportedly, 871 international observers from 59 countries and 58 international organizations, as well as 56,864 local observers will monitor the presidential election.

According to different reports, a comprehensive system of transparency has been created to ensure fair voting process.

The polling stations will open at 8:00 (UTC+4) in Azerbaijan and close at 19:00. The turnout is expected to exceed 80 percent in the election.
