Microsoft IT Academy opened at Odlar Yurdu University in Baku
On June 27, an opening of the Microsoft IT Academy took place at the "Odlar Yurdu" University, in the framework of the signed Memorandum of Understanding between the Microsoft Azerbaijan Company and the university administration.
"We are pleased that the first IT Academy is opened in Azerbaijan, especially in the Year of Information Technology. I am confident that this project will contribute to a new generation of IT professionals in Azerbaijan. Microsoft plans to open another few IT Academies in universities and schools across the country soon", - said the General Manager of Microsoft Azerbaijan, Rufat Hajialibeyov.

"I am very pleased that the first ever IT Academy in Azerbaijan is opened in our University. It will definitely give students an impetus to future career success", - said Rector of the Odlar Yurdu University, Ahmed Valiev.

The main goal of the IT Academy is providing training manuals on Microsoft products and preparation for certified exams in Microsoft Office Specialist, Microsoft Certified Professional, Microsoft Technology Associate specialties.

Tutorials will be available as a part of the course in Information Technology, as well as individually as extracurricular activities. The format of work with students in the IT Academy University is defined at the university, internally.

In the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding, Microsoft DreamSpark project implementation will also be launched. It is a program of the company to support technical education by providing access to Microsoft software for learning, teaching and research purposes. It gives teachers all the necessary resources through which they will always have access to the latest technology that will enable a new way to captivate and motivate students. This program offers a cost-effective way to equip labs and classrooms, as well as students` and teachers `computers with development tools and software for personal computers and Microsoft servers for educational and research aims.

Also Office 365 service will be applied at the "Odlar Yurdu" University for faculty and students. A separate email address will be opened for everyone, which will speed up and simplify teacher-student communication, make it possible to hold online conferences, and work together on the documentation.

One of the most important points of the joint cooperation between Microsoft and the "Odlar Yurdu" University will be the introduction of legal software, its promotion among students, as well as equipping the entire university with licensed software.
