Azerbaijan eyes to impose new penalties for breaking rules on rallies, street marches

Azerbaijan is considering imposing new penalties for breaking rules on rallies, street marches, demonstrations, pickets and other mass events.

This is according to a proposed amendment to Article 517-2.13 of the Code of Administrative Offences, AzVision.az reported.

Non-compliance with the rules concerning these mass events, individuals shall be fined from AZN 300 to 500 or sentenced to administrative arrest up to 30 days depending on the circumstances and the personality of the offender.

Officials, on the other hand, shall be fined from AZN 600 to 900, while legal entities shall be fined from AZN 4,000 to 6,000.

The draft amendment will come up for discussion at one of the successive meetings to be held from May 1 to 4.
