Chairman of Supervisory Board of Azerbaijan
A supervisory board consisting of seven members has been created in Azerbaijan
Chingiz Abdullayev has been elected the chairman of the Supervisory Board.

Taking into account the development rate of football in the world, it was decided to make structural changes in the Neftchi FC, Rovnag Abdullayev, head of the Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan and president of Azerbaijan’s State Oil Company said at the press conference held March 31. Azerbaijan’s State Oil Company, SOCAR is the sponsor of the Neftchi FC.

“Thus, it was decided to create a new structure – Supervisory Board,” he said. “Additionally, Neftchi FC became a part of the Neftchi Sports Club.”

Aside from Chingiz Abdullayev, the Supervisory Board includes the head of the managerial staff of the Neftchi sports club Sadiq Sadiqov, football veterans Mubariz Zeynalov and Samad Gurbanov, Deputy Vice-President of SOCAR Jabrayil Jabrayilov, Deputy Head of SOCAR Investment Department Zaur Gahramanov and film director and actor Bahram Bagirzade.

Rovnag Abdullayev said that the post of executive director was created in order to manage the club and Elnur Mammadov, vice-president of Neftchi was appointed to this post.

The Supervisory Board instructed Mammadov to prepare the new structure of the club and submit it for the approval within a month.

Rovnag Abdullayev added that SOCAR will gradually move away from managing Neftchi FC, but will remain its general sponsor, and thus Neftchi will become a more "public" club.
Neftchi became the first football club in Azerbaijan to carry out such reforms. In a short time, all the clubs in Azerbaijan will use this practice, and there will be no private football club in the country.

“We intend to make the transition of the club from LLC to JSC,” said Rovnag Abdullayev. “The shares of the club will be put up for public sale, and there will be given the right for voting in decision-making.”

Retired major, Doctor of Law Chingiz Abdullayev has numerous government awards. He worked in Belgium, Germany, Poland, Romania, Angola and Afghanistan and has served on various boards.

Abdullayev became a member of the Coordination Council of World Azerbaijanis in July 2011.
