Iran rejects joint announcement on nuclear case
Iran says that it does not accept a joint announcement on its nuclear dispute by the negotiating countries.
“ Iran will not accept any text except that of the comprehensive nuclear agreement,” asserted Hossein Naqavi Hosseini, Iranian MP and spokesman of the parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission.

“Regarding the nuclear issue, Iran does not consider anything but a single text and as far as I know, our negotiation team has rejected issuing a political announcement by the negotiating parties,” he said, Fars news agency reported April 1.

He reiterated that the Islamic Republic’s policy since the beginning of the talks has been to pursue a single-stage agreement addressed in a single text that would include the whole issues of the nuclear case, from minor to major points.

Earlier reports had said that Iran and the P5+1 (the US, UK, France, Russia, China, and Germany) would issue a joint statement as a political understanding document, which would pave the way for a comprehensive deal.

The negotiating parties had set an end-March deadline to reach a political understanding and a deadline of July 1 to strike a comprehensive deal.

Iran and the six major powers, plus representatives from the EU, discussed the political understanding for about one week in the Swiss city of Lausanne.
