Quake jolts parts of Iran

An earthquake measuring four on the Richter scale shook some parts of Sistan-Baluchestan province, IRNA reports.

According to Geophysics Institute affiliated to University of Tehran, the quake occurred at 23:13 hours local time Tuesday (18:43 GMT) in an area located at 29.18 degrees latitude and 59.74 degrees longitude and at the depth of 10 km underground.

No report on possible damage to life or properties has been released yet.


Iran sits on major fault lines and is prone to near-daily earthquakes.
