Turkish FM says Iran`s attitude may bring `catastrophe`
Turkey`s Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said Iran`s attitude in Yemen "may bring catastrophe" to the region Anadolu Agency reported
During a televised interview Monday, Cavusoglu said that Iran is displaying a "sectarian" attitude toward Yemen, and that Turkey can contribute tremendously to the negotiations.

"Turkey played important roles in preventing conflicts and taking safety measures until now, and like always, we can contribute a lot to the negotiations in Yemen as well," Cavusoglu said. "The situation in Yemen should be solved by paying respect to Yemen`s territorial integrity."

Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will visit Tehran for high level meetings Tuesday and Cavusoglu will accompany him.

Saudi Arabia has been leading a coalition of Arab countries, all of them U.S. allies, to launch airstrikes against Houthi positions for the last two weeks.

Riyadh said the strikes were in response to calls by Yemeni President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi for military intervention to "save the (Yemeni) people from the Houthi militias."

Fractious Yemen has been in turmoil since last September, when the Shiite militants overran Sanaa, from which they have sought to extend their influence to other parts of the country.

Some Gulf countries accuse Shiite Iran of supporting the Houthi insurgency which forced Hadi to flee the country.
