The activity of the Joint Working Group on Human Rights consisting of representatives of Azerbaijani civil society and authorities was resumed on the initiatives of President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and Secretary General of the Council of Europe Thorbjørn Jagland. The working group held its first meeting on October 22, 2014. Head of the Department on Work with Law Enforcement of the Azerbaijan President Administration Fuad Alasgarov and Head of the Azerbaijani Delegation to PACE Samad Seyidov were elected as co-chairs of the group and human rights activists Saadat Bananyarli and Sahib Mammadov as secretariat members.
