World Cup: France qualifies for knockout stage

France on Thursday qualified for the knockout stage in World Cup after beating Peru 1-0.

Thursday’s Group C evening match at Ekaterinburg Arena saw France taking the lead with a tap-in goal by young star Kylian Mbappe in the 34th minute.

Mbappe - 19 years and 6 months old - has become the youngest France player ever to score in a major tournament, including Euros and World Cup.

France increased their points total to 6 with the win and qualified for the second round, while Peru is eliminated after two defeats.
