Azerbaijan, Jordan mull development of relations

Azerbaijan’s ambassador to Jordan Rasim Rzayev met Chairman of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of Jordan Atef Taravneh.

Expressing pleasure with the current level of relations between the two countries, Ambassador Rzayev noted positive influence of the personal friendly and brotherly relations between President Ilham Aliyev and King Abdullah II and their reciprocal visits on the bilateral ties. He also underlined the importance of developing cooperation in the fields of tourism, investment, trade, science and culture, as well as opening direct flight between Baku and Amman, and simplification of visa regime between Azerbaijan and Jordan for this purpose.

Rzayev praised the current level of Azerbaijan-Jordan inter-parliamentary relations, expressed confidence that Jordan would be represented at the action dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Azerbaijan Parliament, to be hosted on September 20 in Baku.

The Ambassador highlighted Mr. Atef Taravneh on the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno Karabakh conflict, Armenia’s policy of aggression and ethnic cleanse against Azerbaijan, the genocide acts committed by the aggressors in the territory of Azerbaijan, occupation of over 20 percent of the countries territory, hailed the document on recognition of Khojaly genocide adopted by Jordan’s Senate.

Chairman of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of Jordan Atef Taravneh expressed pleasure with the friendly and cooperation ties between Azerbaijan and Jordan, stressed the necessity of bringing the existing economic relations to the level of political relations, on what, according to his words, he had talked to Jordan’s Prime Minister. The sides underlined importance of the 3rd meeting of the Inter-Governmental Joint Commission taken place in February current year in Amman.
