Azerbaijan to penalize counterfeit ticket sellers during int
Azerbaijan will impose penalties on those engaging in counterfeit ticket sales during international sports events or seeking to prevent the holding of major sports events.

During a joint meeting today, the Committee on Legal Policy and State Building, and the Social Policy Committee put up for discussion the issue of annexing new articles – 224-1 and 298-1 – to the Code of Administrative Offences.

Giving an overview of the project, Chairman of the parliamentary Committee on Legal Policy and State Building Ali Huseynli said the proposed annexes have to do with the provision of security during international sports events, including the upcoming first European Games.

According to article 224-1, individuals counterfeiting tickets for major sports events will be fined AZN 500, officials AZN 2,000, legal entities AZN 5,000.

The article envisages that officials will face fines from AZN 1500 up to 2000 and legal entities from AZN 5000 up to 7000 for selling tickets to major sports events in higher price than it was determined in accordance with the law “On physical education and sports”.

According to article #298-1, individuals will face fines from AZN 500 up to 1000, officials up to AZN 2000 and legal entities up to AZN 5000 for preventing the holding of major sports events, like:

- letting persons, whose entrance is prohibited by the law “On physical education and sports”, enter physical education - sports facilities and place for the audience;

- using items and behaving in such a way that is prohibited by the law “On physical education and sports” at physical education - sports facilities and place for the audience;

The draft law was recommended to the parliament’s plenary session.
