NATO PA President: Azerbaijan plays a key role in ensuring stability in the Caucasus region

“Azerbaijan plays a key role in ensuring stability in the Caucasus region,” said President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly Paolo Alli as he met with Speaker of the Azerbaijani Milli Majlis Ogtay Asadov.

President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly Paolo Alli said that security in the South Caucasus is of crucial global importance. He emphasized Azerbaijan's successful participation in NATO operations.

Paolo Alli also hailed the Azerbaijani delegation’s activity in NATO PA.

Speaker Asadov emphasized Azerbaijan’s successful cooperation with international organizations, saying cooperation with NATO is one of the key principles of the state policy. He noted that Azerbaijan has been successfully cooperating with the organization for 24 years.

Ogtay Asadov pointed out Azerbaijan’s involvement in peacekeeping programs implemented by NATO.

Speaker Asadov provided an insight into the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and the negotiation process on the settlement of the dispute, hailing the importance of the NATO PA’s adopting a document on the issue.

Describing the energy security as a topical issue for NATO, speaker Asadov said that Azerbaijan plays a crucial role in ensuring Europe’s energy security.
