OSCE PA President: Parliament helped transform Azerbaijan into important regional state

The Parliament contributed to the transformation of Azerbaijan into an important state in the region, the President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly George Tsereteli said, speaking at a solemn meeting dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Azerbaijani Parliament.

He noted that the first Parliament in Azerbaijan was established 100 years ago.

"This date is an indication of how the people of Azerbaijan are committed to development and prosperity. Considering this, we see that it is of great importance not only from a historical point of view, but also for the future," he said.

Tsereteli added that the foundation of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic contributed to the creation of modern Azerbaijan, the increase of its power, development of various industries in the country, the strengthening of economic and material sovereignty of the country.

"Being in the shadow of the "Flame Towers", we can feel the heritage of Azerbaijan, see the success achieved in the history of its independence. The Parliament of modern Azerbaijan, following in the footsteps of its predecessor, has contributed to the economic development of the country and its transformation into an important state in the region," he said.
