Karayancheva noted that the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic functioned for a short time, but despite this played a crucial role in the subsequent history of Azerbaijan.
"For the first time in the Muslim East, the Democratic Republic of Azerbaijan has granted equal electoral rights to men and women and has taken a number of similar important progressive steps. It is encouraging that 100 years later, Azerbaijan continues its path of democratic development and develops as a modern state," said Karayancheva.
She stressed that Bulgaria attaches special importance to relations with Azerbaijan.
"The cooperation relations in various fields have been established between our countries. There are relations between the parliaments of Azerbaijan and Bulgaria based on mutual respect," she said.
Karayancheva noted that Azerbaijan and Bulgaria also fruitfully cooperate in the framework of international organizations. Bulgaria is making a positive contribution to the negotiations between Azerbaijan and the European Union.
"Azerbaijan plays an important role in the energy security of Europe, including Bulgaria. I should also note that there is enough potential for even greater cooperation between the two countries. I believe that the signing of the Joint Declaration on strategic partnership between our countries creates favorable conditions for expanding our cooperation. We can expand our cooperation in the field of energy, agriculture, trade, etc.", Karayancheva said.
