Turkey ignores European Parliament
Turkey considers the European Parliament
The resolution adopted by the European Parliament is unilateral as not only Armenians, but the representatives of other nationalities in the region also suffered during the events of 1915, the ministry said.

“This decision on the so-called genocide clearly demonstrates that the European Parliament does not take into account the pain and suffering of Muslims, representatives of other religions during the World War I,” the ministry said.

Turkey will not allow using the events of 1915 as a means of political pressure on the country, the ministry said.

The ministry said that the European Parliament should have thought over the methods of fighting the growing radicalism and interreligious strife in Europe, rather than adopting the resolution on the so-called Armenian genocide.

Armenia and the Armenian lobby claim that Turkey`s predecessor, the Ottoman Empire allegedly carried out ”genocide” against the Armenians living in Anatolia in 1915. Turkey in turn has always denied "the genocide" took place. While strengthening the efforts to promote the "genocide" in the world, Armenians have achieved its recognition by the parliaments of some countries.
