Azerbaijan invited for G-20
Azerbaijan is participating in the G-20 meetings at the invitation of Turkey, which has been chairing there this year.
The country’s finance minister Samir Sharifov is participating in a meeting of finance ministers and the heads of the central banks of G-20 member-states, to be held in Washington April 16-17, the finance ministry said April 16.

The senior representatives of the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development will also attend the meeting.

The meeting will be held to prepare for the meeting of heads of G-20 member-states in Antalya November 2015. The situation in the global economy, the strategy of sustainable and balanced development, investments and infrastructure, regulation of financial markets, an international tax system and other issues will be discussed at this meeting.

Sharifov will also take part in the IMF and WB traditional spring meetings.

"Group of Twenty" (G20) is a leading forum for discussing the global economic and financial cooperation. It includes 20 largest national economies, namely, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Great Britain, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Canada, China, Mexico, Russia Saudi Arabia, the US, Turkey, France, South Korea, South Africa, Japan and the EU. Some 85 percent of global GDP account for them.

Russia chaired in G20 in 2013. Australia replaced it in 2014. This function was transferred to Turkey in 2015.
